Overview

As with all other Holland America ships, a proud tradition (over 130 years' worth) is everywhere apparent aboard the Amsterdam. Introduced in 2000 as the near-twin to the Rotterdam, this ship combines Old World charm (mahogany woodwork, rich carpets and museum-quality artwork) with a number of innovations - it's the first ship in the fleet to feature the speedier, more manueuverable Azipod propulsion system (no shaft with propellers).
